Update: Koetter to interview with the Browns

By D. Orlando Ledbetter

MOBILE, Ala. – Falcons offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter is slated to interview for the vacant Cleveland Browns head coaching position, the Falcons confirmed and earlier Fox Sports report.

“I don’t want to talk about someone else’s coaching vacancy,” Falcons coach Mike Smith said on Tuesday.

Koetter interviewed for the Boise State head coaching job earlier this offseason.

After the 2012 season, Koetter was contacted by two teams, but decided to withdraw from consideration while the Falcons were making a Super Bowl push.

Koetter has been a head coach at Boise State and Arizona State in the college ranks. He’s been with the Falcons for the past two seasons and was the offensive coordinator the previous five seasons in Jacksonville.

I think from the onset Koetter wanted to be a head coach in the NFL. I also think he's done a good job as an offensive coordinator thus far. But I don't know if he can land one of the NFL's covenant jobs.

This same stuff was said about Mike Mularkey and everyone was so glad to get rid of him (myself included).

Now look...we have Screen Passes in the Play book (very few with Mike) a vertical Passing Game (not with Mike) and little running game to speak of (Mike offered lots of this).

We were so glad he was gone, although all we did was win. Now, we have what we asked for and we had a losing season.

The point being...I think we would be not be happy with Bilichick and his crew running the show.

Good for him, hope he gets it. I also hate the Jacksonville connections....Jax has won zero....

Mike Smith needs to go back to Jacksonville (that dreadful organization) and take everybody he brought to Atlanta with him. Clean house. Start over. We reached the "plateau" last year. It's all dowhill from here. Why wait three long years before you fire him?? Nothing this football team does makes any sense at all...

@kls82883 OK,Are you newly arrived from some alternate dimension where the Falcons WERENT a conglomerate of Smith's old Jax running buddies and WERENT subsequently a national embarassment of a trainwreck the past three years in particular?

Illuminate us,Oh Guru...

@Primetime_boss I was watchin the Flacons loose 2 many games cuz the QB can not get the ball down the feld. All his pases R 4 5 yards R less. As much as I hate the Siants they have a beter QB cuz he can get it deep.

@jeffreyd@zuzu331@kls82883 Hmmm,last year.

We squeaked past the Seahawks with a last minute FG in the Divisional Playoffs (blowing a 20 point lead),then allowed the 49rs to come back from a 17 point lead in the Conference Championship game,in both games completely failing to make any halftime adjustments whatsoever - or come up with any semblance of playcalling variety or strategy at all, other than repeated passing plays to the same receivers over and over.

I guess those games were fun for you.
