Ted Roof drops by to see Attaochu, Thomas

By D. Orlando Ledbetter

MOBILE, Ala. – Georgia Tech defensive coordinator Ted Roof made his way to the Senior Bowl.

After the South’s practice at Ladd-Peebles Stadium on Tuesday, he was talking to former Tech standouts Jeremiah Attaochu and Jemea Thomas on the field.

Thomas was a late addition to the Senior Bowl South roster.

“There was a high level of talent down there at the East-West Shrine game,” Thomas said. “The talent here is much better.”

Thomas played in 54 games at Georgia Tech, tying a school record.

“It’s been good,” Thomas said. “Day-in and day-out, going to meetings and trying to get everything down. I’ve been having a good time.”

Attaochu played defensive end and linebacker at Tech.

“I have to show them that I can do both,” Attaochu said.

Go Falcons !!. Hopefully, with the contribution of Pioli,  TD will gleen a discerning 'eye'  regarding player personnel.   OTA's will be here before I know it.

First Round, the Falcons need to find someone to protect their $100M Quarterback. Second Round, they need to look for an edge rusher or a run stuffer up the middle (best player available). Third Round, a Linebacker or Running Back (best player available). Fourth Round, they need to go back to the Offensive Line (unless of course, they just saw a steal earlier rounds, and then they should have jumped on him).

All of this, of course, will be fluid, depending on what the Falcons do in Free Agency...

Jemea Thomas DB Georgia Tech

5094 190 9 7/8 30 1/2

Mon: Thomas looked terrific in drills showing a quick and fluid backpedal as well as smooth hips. Really did not stand out in 7-on-7 or scrimmage.

Tues: Did not standout but there's something about his game that keeps drawing you back. He's quick and shows a lot of skill during drills. Quick footed in reverse, can flip his hip and has a burst.

Jeremiah Attaochu LB Georgia Tech

6032 252 9 3/8 32 7/8

Mon: Nice day from Attaochu. Lined up exclusively at outside linebacker and while he showed some stiffness in his game he was constantly around the action.

Tues: Did well in drills. Looked quick footed in reverse and showed better than average cover skills. Surprisingly was handled in pass rushing drills when coming out of a three point stance.

Falcons fall back #10 Anthony Barr and Khalil Mack might be of the board.

#7 BUCCANEERS ANTHONY BARR

#9 BILLS KHALIL MACK

Falcons could be taking a large risk on losing both players.

GO FALCONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If Sammy Watkins slide past pick #5 the Lions might be calling Falcons for #6 and Falcons move back #10 do  the Falcons make that move.

Falcons should get Attaochu with their 2nd pick:

Round 1: Sammy Watkins

Round 2: Attaochu

Round 3: Jemea Thomas

Get OL free agents and they will be Super Bowl contenders

@devounknown1000

They would have to fleece the Lions for the 2nd round pick ( if they have one?) to make that move, but if they can, do it!

With no Offensive line picks I like this draft. However, we will need to find a way to keep Ryan off his back, so we can score points.

Falcons need help in the "D" way too much...  I don't foresee them getting a WR.  To do so, would be dumb.  Not saying Watkins isn't a great player.  It's just that the Falcons dire need isn't the WR position.
