"I think the NFL got lucky with great weather in New York in February! Go figure!"

Damn Skippy I slammed the choice and I still do! Goodell caught the Weather version of the Tirfecta (an 18 hour window between weather systems)! When moisture off the Gulf gets caught on a (temporary) ridge (of High Pressure) over the Piedmonts  while a Low Pressure system is racing across the Plains and a 18 hour window of Gulf Stream influenced weather opens (along the Mid-Atlantic), you got damn lucky. At 3AM this morning, a major snow storm hit the Tri-State. 6 hours was the difference 30 degrees colder and 15 mph wind snow plus fog!

I love it when the excuse making posters come to play. Always mentioning players who given nothing in their time as Falcons as if they were "actual contributors!"

Bradie Ewing...NADA

Mike Johnson...NADA

Sam Baker...Marginal except in a contract year...Suckers!

Who in the heck is "Stephen Jackson?" Do you mean "Steven Jackson?"Blah...Blah...Blah! The myth of

Don't you ever get tired of running out that refuted mess?

The only one of the Falcons offensive starters who was ever worth two pennies was Julio Jones. And like Johnson and Ewing he's never stays healthy!

Stop throwing Peters in the "injured category!" He played until tearing his achilles in the next to last game of the season!

Who in their right and knowledgeable football mind counts on players with such a spotty track record of health? Cue Jim Harbaugh: "Nobody!"

There's a sense of security knowing the falcan'ts are in the same division with the Saints.  That's at least two Ws the Saints can count on each year!

I think it's funny how some of these falcan't fans like to point to "injuries" as the sole reason their team got butchered, week in and week out, last year.   The falcan'ts were near 100% strength for their first game of the year when the Saints blew them out in the Superdome.  Kinda of forget about that little tidbit, where the great Julio Jones fumbled a reception that RHarper recovered, and led to a Saints TD, forget about how Stephen Jackson fumbled their go-ahead touchdown at the goal line, forget how Matt Ryan's desperation throw to JGonzalez in the endzone got tipped away by KVaccaro and intercepted by RHarper.  None of that involved falcan't  injuries.

How about the lack of depth on the falcan't roster?  Or the lack of skill on the sidelines at coaching?  I guess none of that matters, huh?!  LOL!

But I agree, Vegas had the odds wrong, cause a year from now, the falcan'ts will be preparing to make another top 6 pick in the first round of the 2015 NFL draft!   LOL!

The Saints will definitely be in the hunt, bank it.

The Falcons need some mean, tough guys on the lines both offense and defense. We have an elite corps of receivers, a very good QB, and a running back who needs some holes made for him (although he is older and a young RB would be a good draft AFTER the line is fixed). IF they can fill these holes, they may have a shot at the playoffs. Super Bowl? Let's just get back to the playoffs first.

I wish the Falcons could trade for Wilson. He's in his second year and is better than any quarterback the Falcons have ever had.

MikeisBack
MikeisBack

Dled, the only way I see that happening...is if TD can come with at lease two playmakers on the DL...two playmakers on the OL...and Mike Johnson regains his form...and live up to the hype...that was going around before the injury.

Hardy is still got to be priority in FA...even if you do come up with Clowney.  I would say Albert too...if serious about challenging for a SB next season.

We gotta upgrade at Tackle and Center on the OL...to have any real chance to run the ball.

I don't see all that getting done in one season...heck, anything possible...we will see.

I could care less what some Las Vegas bookmakers think the Falcons are going to do next season. "I'm bout that action boss." For the last couple of years someone has created a headline for themselves by claiming the Falcons would either win or appear in the Super Bowl. Means absolutely nothing...obviously. Let's focus on much needed changes in the roster first and see if we can be successful there before sipping on the Kool-Aid. This team has no offensive or defensive line that is playoff caliber. People want to say injuries but really who got injured on the offensive line that has proven to be a playoff caliber lineman? Baker is up and down every year in his play and is often injured and if anyone here types Mike Johnson's name you might he high on something since he has proven nothing but the ability to be often injured. We cant run the ball or stop the run. We can't protect the QB in passing situations and evidently our coaching staff is not even sure(at this stage in their tenor) what type of offense they even want to run. Power running or pass happy? You draft o-linemen to fit either one or the other. We don't have a single DT under contract that is starter quality much less playoff quality. Look I want this team to turn it around in a few months too but there are so many moves that need to be made before that can happen that I'm going to be forced to take the wait and see approach. Weatherspoon has not proven to be much more than average and is often injured but I'll bet you Dimitroff throws a blank check at him to fill out at his leisure come contract time. Kinda like he did with Baker. Until we get the trenches figured out no way any sensible football fan sits here and gets excited about some lame Las Vegas bookie saying the Falcons are going to be in the hunt next year. They have a better chance of predicting rain in Vegas than Falcons success. When Spoon was healthy Nicholas led him in total tackles. The biggest loss was Julio Jones and if you can't pass block for the QB what good is a Julio Jones? At the beginning of the season people talked up Kroy Biermann like he all of sudden was this dominant pass rush threat. Really? People talked up Mike Johnson at RT before he had played a down not realizing or wanting to realize this guy couldn't beat out former RT Garrett Reynolds for the guard spot and Mike Johnson played guard just about his entire college career. Mike Johnson has been on IR now what 3 times in 4 years? Something close to that. What are you thinking when you attribute his injury to the failures of this team? We have a mountain to climb and I expect Dimitroff will pull out all the stops because that 1 yr contract extension was a sign...fix this or it's your last extension from this owner. Mike Smith...well I don't know what this dude is thinking any more. If we get to week 17 with the #1 seed and home field will this idiot still think the last game of the regular season should be played by all the starters and risk injury? Abe getting hurt in week 17 against the Panthers severely weaken this teams chances that year IMO.

It's clear that Vegas understands why we were 4&12 last season. INJURIES PEOPLE. We still have a great team when healthy. The Falcons lost Julio. Then add Roddy White, Stephen Jackson, Bradie Ewing, Sam Baker, Mike Johnson and that's just the Offensive Starters. Add Kroy Biermann, Corey Peters, Sean Weatherspoon, Jonathan Babineaux, Asante Samual on Defense and those are just the starters. That is exactly Half of our Starters that missed a large majority of the season or all of the season. The ones who came back played injured and should have stayed out. Could Seattle have won the Super Bowl if half of their starters didn't play this season? Answer NO...

Falcons will be back stronger than ever after free agency and a strong draft. Vegas knows this and I believe it too. Expect the odds to improve after the draft. RISE UP

Falcons63

Hmmm.... I believe a few of us have been saying that they expect the Falcons to rebound next year.  Unlike the AJC staff and most fans!  Good to know that Las Vegas agrees.  The biggest surprise will be that some of the same players that have been pronounced DOA will be contributors.  Last nights game is one more illustration that the margin between good and bad in the NFL is very small.  A few bad breaks, things snowball and a game, just like a season can go bad.  The previous 5 years weren't an accident.  The team is in good shape cap wise and will benefit from a high pick and a much easier schedule. Super Bowl??  I don't know..  but I definitely think that they will return to the playoffs.  Just call me a glass half full kind of guy.

@SeenThatB4 As a true Falcons fan, I agree that we blame too many injuries for the reason we had a down year, I know without our injuries it would've given us a better shot of the playoffs, however, can't blame injuries for the reason why you're losing a bunch of games. Lack of depth on the O-line & D-line can come back to hunt you. The Bengals & Patriots had more injuries than us & still made the playoffs. The problem with the Falcons is that we rely on 1st string players too much, once one person goes down, we're doomed. Our team can't rely on Julio Jones all the time. There is a reason why 0-4 preseason teams have never won a Super Bowl. Thomas Dimitroff has to change his mindset with the way he drafts our picks or else I don't see the Falcons being a playoff contender anytime soon. Defense wins championships, we all learned that from the Super Bowl. The 2014 Falcons team will still be in rebuilding mode filling in a bunch of holes. Plus with the NFC West becaming so dominant over the next several years plus the NFC South having the Panthers & the Bucs rising up. The NFC conference is gonna be a lot tougher for everybody so yeah. By the way, the Saints did not blow out the Falcons in New Orleans, the Saints escaped 23-17 by a goal line stand. The 49ers & the Falcons came the closest to knocking off the Saints in NO in 2013. 23-17 & 23-20, all the other teams at home you blew out. Now when the Saints are on the road, that's when y'all are beatable.

@MikeisBack Mike Johnson has never shown any type of "form" in the NFL. The only people that hyped Mike Johnson were either Bama fans or people that knew little about which they were talking. He was an All-American in college but has only been a injury prone bust in the NFL. That is if a 3rd round draft pick can even be a bust. He has not started one single series in the entire time in the league. How in the world do people look to this guy as any form of an answer at the position?

My-Guy

@Dman Nope can't blame injuries, lack of depth on the O-line & D-line, when you trade a bunch of linemen that you need for 1 high valuable draft pick, what happens when that very valuable draft pick goes down, that's like saying ALL of your major playmakers up front all goes down at one damn time. Look at the Patriots & the Bengals, look at all the injuries they had, NEXT MAN UP, they still made the playoffs. The Falcons run off 1st string players, one injury & we have nobody to replace him.

Dr. Carl Ojala was a great professor! Still, I'll let AnswerThis live his dream regarding the 49 degree temp with overcast skies and rain by halftime that occurred on Sunday . "It is ok to be wrong man"

You people never say "you were wrong" about this team! It is excuse (injuries), excuse (luck), after excuse (somebody cheated us)! See any post by DMan or TrueFalconsFan and it is nothing but spin (and they are the lite stuff)! This is never personal (despite the stalkers, pseudo sexual masochists, death threats, and challenges to fist fights). Yeah, but I'm "all emotional and wig all out." You can't put genies back in the bottle. I let all of this crap slide. And that last line you wrote is a two-way street.

By the way, anybody who has ever lived with a woman (and actually paid attention) knows that women tolerate a lot of mess and let it go (right away), men not too much. Just don't "F" up on the big stuff with 98.6% of women (regardless of the culture), that is when they don't let something go! Unlike Falcons posters, that is what I meant by "irony is oozing all out of that comment." See that is not personal, just an observation! I don't want to ruin your preconceptions, so take that word like Johnny Paycheck!
