Isaiah Crowell is creating a buzz at the NFL combine

By D. Orlando Ledbetter

INDIANAPOLIS — Former Georgia running back Isaiah Crowell, who finished his career at Alabama State, has bulked up to 224 pounds and said he expects to run in the 4.4s at the NFL Scouting Combine.

He said that he was humbled by his departure from Georgia and that he’s a more mature young man. Although his charges were dismissed, NFL teams still want to know about his issues at Georgia.

He was in horrible shape at Georgia, just like Todd Gurley was last year. He should be said to come from Alabama State not UGA. Give the school that took a chance on him the credit, not the one that let him down because they couldn’t handle him.

Good Luck young man!

I wouldn't draft IC for a couple of reasons..

1. He was extremely  immature at UGA.

2. He didn't have the ability ( instincts?) to follow blocks at UGA. I've never seen another back just plow into the backside of offensive linemen like he did.

That  said, I wish him well.

All you morons, Isiah Crowell owes you and apology for what? A explanation for what? You blog turds haven't the slightest idea what it takes to play this game at this level, and to come from a neighborhood that makes you feel like you have to have protection. Was carrying a gun wrong? No! Having it not registered well that's different. These kids give there heart and soul to UGA and oh UGA zero when they leave. How many of you can say you were up at 6 am, in the gym by 6:30 am and then four classes for that day, then to practice, film study, and then dinner, before studying two hour daily? Think it's easy being Crowell? Think it's easy having 93,746 wanting to see you, when most of you in your life time will let down on average three others as you fail in marriage. career and other venues. Walk a mile in this kid shoes and see how many realize they can't. Good luck to the kid, and to the blogger who blames him for JHC, really man? I mean Crowell was where last season when JHC was suspended, where this year when he was suspended before Clemson. Where was Crowell when JHC decided to screw up before Nebraska, and the Taxslayer.com Gator bowl? You become a cancer by being weak. JHC has weakened JHC! Hopefully he gets his life together, but please don't blame Crowell.

Hopefully, he has done just that. If he can keep his nose clean and indeed matured, he could be a good one.

Do you mean the self-induced buzz between Crowell's ears?

I believe Janoris Jenkins was asked to leave Florida for South Alabama as well, and he turned his life around and has become a very good DB in the NFL.  Hopefully, Crowell will do the same.

So much so that the AJC posted it twice.

He's getting his chance and will probably make a team.......once he gets the money we'll know if he's turned into a solid mature man or just a pop culture follower......it's his choice

Y'all get warm and fuzzy for Crowell if you want to, but I'm not gonna wish him anything.

I give him lots of credit for helping to transform a young 5-Star Josh Harvey Clemons into the pothead he has become.

Thanks again, IC.

Good for him. We know he has the talent. Did he mature enough between the ears, to work hard and keep straight? Time will tell. Good luck Mr. Crowell.

Whatever happened the young man has a 2nd chance and I hope for his sake he has matured as he says and will make the most of it.  I will be pulling for him and the proof will be in the pudding.

All you guys got something to say about athletics. They can't read, they can't talk, they THUGS and so on...sound like a bunch of haters to me.

I know you guys are probably very intelligent and you hating the fact that an athletic will make more money than you.

ElephantintheRoom, why you wishing negativity on this young man? I guess you never ever got in trouble your whole life...come on with an excuse I'll wait.

I'm pulling fot the young man because I believe in giving people 2nd, 3rd & how many more chances they need until the get it right...

Crowell was riding around with a firearm with the numbers filed off of it, and he didn't do time or as far as I know he didn't do any probation.  I believe he has more trouble coming to him.

@Dawggie Please explain how he influenced JHC? I never read of any connection linking Crowell to JHC using the weed.  It seems to me that JHC is suppose to be an individual and his choice was to ignore the rules. Linking one hard headed kid to another, just because both couldn't behave, is trying to shift the blame from one person to another. Crowell was long gone in the case of the last two less than smart actions by JHC.

"Wow, I've never heard of this guy."

So much for your professions of being so "informed" on Talent!

Wow, I've never heard of this guy. Looks like a great open field runner. Does he fumble a lot or what?

I may root for UGA but I often agree with you. I hope he has it turned around because I like to see these kids succeed but I'm also realistic and don't simply accept his word that he has.

I didn't say anything about wishing Isaiah any negativity. As a matter of fact I am hoping and praying that he'll make it big time in the pros and prove everybody wrong. What I said was "I believe he has more trouble coming to him" and let me add to that I really hope not.

@dirtyo11  Not until he accepts accountability for his actions will he have the slightest chance of getting it right.  I don't know if he has done that.

Ledbetter - couldn't you have found a better term than "buzz" when writing about Crowell?

@dirtyo11  carrying an unregistered gun with the serial number filed off is a HUGE RED FLAG. That is a BIG FELONY.

@SlawDawg

Thug only applies to stuff involving violence.

Suspended licenses, DUIs, weed, etc, is being stupid, but it doesn't rise to the level of Thuggery or being a Thug.

Too many CFB fans use the word Thug to identify all misdeeds, when the fact it is it only applies to misdeed involving violence.

@RedandBlackDAWG JHC was in the car PARTYING with CROWELL when they were caught with the GUN and Drugs......Those had to belong to someone in the car.

RedandBlackDAWG
RedandBlackDAWG

@POAD2013 @RedandBlackDAWGSince both the gun and the weed were under the drivers side of the car, you can pretty much figure out who they belonged to. JHC is an individual and nobody but himself is responsible for his actions in the end. He chose to break the rules and Crowell did also. Both were aware of the rules and laws and both  chose to break them.  Individual responsibility is part of growing up. These two didn't chose to do that. Maybe Crowell has learned his lesson, maybe not. Maybe JHC will learn his now, but that remains to be seen.
