Just chatted with Falcons general manager Thomas Dimitroff on a conference call and he believes the team added some grit and toughness in free agency today.

He was on his way to dinner with the new players. He was probably heading to Chops or the Capital Grille in Buckhead.

He also believed the team retained some key players and said they will continue to run a hybrid 4-3 and 3-4 defense with no scheme change in store.

Here are some of the tweets from the call.

Now add some Grit and SPEED by trading up for Jadeveon Clowney.

There will always be an asterisk with the Saints Super Bowl win due to the Bounty gate. Their fans and their city can think otherwise. If the Saints win another Super Bowl...LOL.. I will respect them, but until then, there will always be an asterisk. The NFL felt sorry for their city as well....

@STBF.. Again, put your money where your mouth is.... Let's put something on the line saying the Saints will sweep the Falcons this year. I made one incorrect prediction... You made how many? LSU Destrroying UGA... WRONG!  Saints beating the Seahawks Wrong! The Saints going 13-3? Wrong! I know its hard for people from the swamp to add, but that's three wrong predictions to my one.  I find it funny how Saints fans loved Sproles the past three years, but when they put him on the trade market, they say he is done....lol. Sproles is still productive! Graham cries about how the saints are cutting all of these players, but is too dumbe to realize its because they are wanting to break the bank on him! Good luck Saints! Go Falcons!

JSSN I got questions and you know I respect your knowledge about the cap.

Considering the moves ( and I am one on board with making these very good moves as I see it filling some nice holes, getting some run stuffers, and getting a big NT who will help Spoon BIG TIME, and a guard that will make a good combo for Oline) give me your feedback on IF the chickens will come home to roost with the NT contract?  I guess I am thinking about next year ( Julio has to get paid, Ryan comes up with that contract, and other moves will be glaring) and if we will be able to compete in FA again next year. I know that we will be shedding contracts next year ( SJ, Osi, etc..if not this year......) but I guess I am asking if we will be able to afford these guys or will we be in trouble with the "manipulation" that you spoke about in the other post. These moves are BIG time, but I dont want the Falcons to be in trouble and be the new Dallas for the next two to three years. Your thoughts?

Why to you cater to SeenThisB4 -- just ignore him. He will go away. You are taking the bait. Don't do it. I hate to do even this.

The broncos supposely couldnt afford decker but their front office SOMEHOW still adds ward talib and ware, fire every falcons front office person asap smfh. We never add top players just the under the radar players HOPING they turn into gold.

Okay, had to register and login and all of that stuff, just to respond to Saint's troller SeenthatB4.  Didn't want to be here, however the BS is thigh deep.

Assuming I speak for most Falcon fans when I say that I used to cheer  for the Saints when the Falcons were having bad years, as we were 2 of the lowest considered teams in the NFL.  If I remember correctly, we were both in the NFC West and getting swept year after year by the LA Rams and SF 49rs throughout the 70s, 80s, and 90s.

Used to look at the Saints as something similar to the Falcons.  Even cheered for them when things were bad.  Remember cheering when Bobby Heber was beating the Cowboys (or whoever) on Monday Night Football around 1998.  The Falcons and Saints were like 2 peas in a pod.

Come the 2000's and realignment and now we are in the NFC South together.  Feelings remained the same.  If the Falcons didn't win, then my next favorite team was the Saints, by reason of proximity and shared suffering.

However, something happened at some point apparently to make people like SeenthatB4 come visit Atlanta websites and spread some kind of hatred.  So, what was previously a nice southern rivalry has to you become an apparently nasty throat slashing affair, where you invade our blogs and spread crap about your bches and talk down to our own local players.

Maybe, you should get on the bus back to your own crappy town.  I've been there and would 25 times rather live in Atlanta than your place.  So, why don't you go back there and stop bothering us peace loving,
Falcon loving, and otherwise southern loving people.

You are giving your city a bad name by even posting you stupid stuff here.  If I never read another post by Seenthatb4, then I will definitely be better for it.  GO SAVE YOUR OWN GD CITY!

Fokker Out!

Byrd at the expense of Sproles?

As a rival, I'll take that trade-off.

I see the pissing contest is back at it! Everybody but the Panthers gained some today. Nobody in the NFC South can crow too much, lot of hunting to be done  to catch the Seahawks, Niners, and sadly enough the Cardinals.

What a great day to be a Falcon fan. Great job resigning the free agents so they didn't leave and then we made some great moves to shore up both lines. We still have money left and can't wait for the draft. Go Falcons!!!

@STBF... Copy the saints???  You must mean copying the Seahawks, which embarrassed the Saints! Or copy the 49ERS, which bloodied Drew Brees.... Let's make a bet that the Saints do not sweep the Falcons... Put your money where your mouth is for once. How did your predictions from last year go? The Saints going 13-3? LSU beating  UGA? Atlanta will never want to be like the cheats, much less the armpit of America like the city of New Orleans is....

No one cares about the asterisk or Bountygate. The Aints still have a ring and we don't.

STB4 isn't all that bad, he is just a comedian. You must not understand that he is joking around. He will get his due this year when the Falcons sweep the sAints.

@Dman How much have you had already Dman?  Might want to go sleep it off now, you've lost touch with reality already.

@ryesouvie My predictions were much better than your predictions of a Super Bowl run....Wise Up! Rye, your team will struggle again this year.

GEAUX SAINTS!!!

No no no......

Jenkins is garbage. Signing DeCoud might've been a clear wash there.

You're $$$ spent on Byrd comes at the expense of Sproles $$$.

Dman

You guys lost a lot more than you gained in Byrd. I'm not impressed. FalCans are looking much stronger already and there is more to come.

"Go" (spelled correctly) FALCONS!!!

@SeenThatB4 @ryesouvie  Your team will continue to struggle against the physical brand of football teams. You did nothing to better yourselves this off-season. You gutted your entire team to sign a TE.

Twisterfire
Twisterfire

@SeenThatB4 Actually no, what you said doesn't make any sense at all if you think you are trying to be clever. Do you know what check down means? Sproles accounted for 71 receptions which is only 10 less than that TE of yours who your QB loves throwing to. So thats more than Moore, Meachem, Toon and other receivers on your roster.

@BigCrimson75

Actually they are trading the salaries of Sporles and Bunkley.

SeenThatB4
SeenThatB4

@BigCrimson75 Sproles, is done, he's not worth his contract, which was not prohibitive..  Whoever trades for him, isn't getting a deal.  Maybe the falcan'ts should trade for him.

DawgGoneIt
DawgGoneIt

@SeenThatB4 @DawgGoneIt @Dman  You don't even know what you have in Byrd. It looks like a good signing on paper but so was Nnamdi Asomugha when he signed with Philly a couple seasons ago. And I know you didn't just throw Patrick Robinson in there...he can't cover anybody!

Dman
Dman

Doesn't sound like a "whipping" to me. And what about the second time you played our backups and barely beat us. You guys should have whooped us that game.

DawgGoneIt
DawgGoneIt

@SeenThatB4 @Dman  He was in the right place at the right time. Vacarro can't cover anybody on the Falcons' roster and you know it

SeenThatB4
SeenThatB4

@Dman And Vacarro was a rookie playing his first NFL game!

SeenThatB4
SeenThatB4

@Dman Stephen Jackson dropping your winning TD and KVacaro blocking the pass to Gonzalez.   Hmmm, that was two potential game winning plays that your team failed at, back to back.  Ryan to Jackson drop, Ryan to Gonzalez, defended.  Ryan, Gonzalez, Jackson, all starters, all failed.

Dman
Dman

Vegas says we are 7th most likely team to win the Superbowl this year and that was a few weeks ago. Those guys get paid to make smart predictions or they are out of a job quickly. After we get past the draft, those odds may improve.

DawgGoneIt
DawgGoneIt

@SeenThatB4 @DawgGoneIt @Dman  Who cares what media has to say? Yeah Rodger Goodell really respects your organization doesn't he? Nobody respects the saints since 09 when the Bounty came out. "Kill the head and the body will die!" You left a huge black eye on the entire NFL and that'll never go away. As a matter of fact, what have you done since then?

Dman
Dman

It was two starters that game and I don't call Stephen Jackson dropping the winning TD pass with seconds left a whipping. You are LUCKY you won and LUCKY that we had all of those injuries. Otherwise, we would have won the division again.

SeenThatB4
SeenThatB4

@DawgGoneIt @SeenThatB4 @Dman Brees has a few more year left.  And as far as the team being in decline, I doubt it, and so do most of the xperts.   The Saints are still considered a contender, and the falcan'ts still don't get much respect, not just from me, but from the majority of NFL analysts.   You know why?  Cause your team leadership is weak in game time decisions.

DawgGoneIt
DawgGoneIt

@SeenThatB4 @DawgGoneIt @Dman  You can say what you want, but the bottom line is the Saints are on a decline and Brees doesn't have too much longer. Better draft your QB of the future while you still can.

DawgGoneIt
DawgGoneIt

@SeenThatB4 @DawgGoneIt @Dman  Wow you barely beat a poor Philly team with zero defense. What happened in the 2nd round? You got owned once again by the Seahawks.

What did you do that was so "big time"? Guess what? At the end of the day, you were on the couch just like Matt Ryan was watching the NFC title game and the Super Bowl.

2014 is a brand new year and don't expect the Falcons to be as bad as last year. Withe FA signings, getting basically a whole starting team back from injuries, and a good draft class, Falcons will take their division back.

SeenThatB4
SeenThatB4

@Dman Boo Hoo.  Injuries.  Cop out.  You didn't have 11 of your starters on the injured list when the Saints whipped your team in the Super Dome.  I think you had one starter sitting for that game.

Dman
Dman

Dude, we had 11 out of our 22 starters injured. We will be back this year to our winning ways.

SeenThatB4
SeenThatB4

@Dman Dude, you're team was 4-12, looking much stronger from 4-12 isn't saying much.

BigCrimson75

Ha.

Cleveland already has a TE.

Maybe you can sucker Oakland into something like that.

McKenzie apparently decided to fall off his rocker today!

SeenThatB4
SeenThatB4

@DawgGoneIt @SeenThatB4 @ryesouvie And as a point of order, we're still waiting for Cleveland or somebody  to sign our TE/WR and give us two #1s for him..... Might be able to get Clowney.  .

SeenThatB4
SeenThatB4

Uh-huh, sure.   Till they start getting bruised and sitting in the whirlpool during the season.

DawgGoneIt
DawgGoneIt

@SeenThatB4  The Falcons got tougher this off-season. We're much more physical than the Saints.

SeenThatB4
SeenThatB4

All that means is that the Saints will be beating all the powder puffs like the falcan'ts.   There's only three physical teams in the entire NFL, I'll take those odds.  And what you call "gutting", we call fine tuning.
