New Orleans safety Rafael Bush, a former practice squad player with the Falcons, has been signed to an offer sheet by the Falcons, according to his agent and the NFL transactions wire.

The Saints will have until April 8 to match the offer or lose Bush to Atlanta.

The Saints issued Bush a one-year, $1.4 million tender earlier this offseason. Bush was originally signed as an undrafted free agent out of South Carolina State in 2010.

The Falcons did no comment about pending personnel moves.

Looks like there's a big ole hole in the Falcons secondary!! I'm sure TD will find some green safety to pick up the slack!! Bwaahaahaa!!

This off season period has not been so good -- spent $$$$$$$ for a few mediocre players like Tyson Jackson and Joe Assomough-- only decent player was Solead.

Devin Hester might have a little left.

And no tackles or pass rushers -- 6 wins at best next yr

Wow Wee -- big deal another scrubs sign this off season

It makes me laugh when people why the saints fans are the most obnoxious. They have always been obnoxious and they have gotten worse since their bounty bowl win.

@JSSN... You really think the falcons have a tough schedule and are that far off from playoff contention after one bad season? I think the Falcons are  playoff contenders with good health. Is it football season yet???

one bad season by the falcons and one good season season by the saints and now they are world beaters and better than the falcons? no, I don"t think so.they are still the aints.the falcons will run rings around the aints this season.its back to losing for new Orleans, no more Katrina to save them by the league

Now they signed Champ.......and their cap was?........They are running a pyramid scheme on their players.........Free Bush, let him be!

Malformed content?      .................is that the same as being blocked?

It doesn't mean he'll start, but it gives the Falcons depth at that position. Plus I think they'll draft another safety. I think the falcons have two safeties that are going into their second season. One of them got injured with  neck problem.

what kind of cover safety is Bush? We need a S that can cover and not be out of position on every play.

Sneaky one there DOL. I wonder how many people saw this and thought Reggie Bush? LOL

Hmmmmmmmmmm......interesting! So here is my question, is this TD going back and saying I messed this one up come home?  Or is this what most of you are saying about sticking it to the AINTS?  I am sure they wont match ( they cant afford to) because they still have to sign Graham, and they gave part of the Nutria bank to Byrd! He is a Falcon as far as I can see it..............the question is "is he more than a stop gap"

Again, another Ledbetter classic:

Last I heard, was that Champ Bailey was visiting with the Saints, and he was open to moving to Safety, and that's why the Ain'ts are not trying to keep him.

Clowney has said he wants to win a Super Bowl. The five teams ahead of the Falcons are Houston, St. Louis, Jacksonville, Cleveland, and Oakland. None of them has a quarterback capable of getting to the Super Bowl. Better go with the Falcons.

This is a smart move.......hopefully a planned move.......If the Saints counter, how..?

First, I said NOOOOO, I thought it was Reggie Bush.  This is ok however.

Saints will match the offer. we're just sticking it to the Ain'ts.

@SaintsREAM  Little do you know this was a win/win for the Falcons. Get Bush and that's good, or make you guys pay up for him and break y'all even further. You seriously are strapped on cash. Good luck in the future, you're going to need it! Brees better be able to throw those passes to himself! You guys probably have 1 more season before the paper bags come back on your heads!

@BravesFanSince1961  Saint fans truly are the worst in the NFL. Everyone of those tweets could have from STB4 and nobody would have known the difference. Everyone of them are just alike. No Class, No vocabulary, No Brains. Just a bunch of thugs living in the gutter the rest of the country calls New Orleans.

@Esquire

Trips to Green Bay, Baltimore, Minnesota (better hope it is early), Cincinnati, New York, and going Transatlantic with a gift for the Lions on a neutral field in London (that crowd is not going to be pro Atlanta). Leave that "Easy Button" to Tyger (he's a trained professional)!

@AnsweredTHIS

His $1.4M is already on the Saints books, so they aren't really losing anything unless the Falcons made an outrageous offer to him. I like Bush, but really. No one really loses on this one.

RogerHenslee
RogerHenslee

@Intruder  Agreed but the problem is, he doesn't get to choose.

And if that really is his criteria, and he could choose, do you think Atlanta would be high on his wish list(coming from a Falcons fan)?

You don't seem to get that nothing is promised for next year....win at all costs now! Next year you may not have a HOF tight end or your Wide Receiver might get hurt. Figure out next year after you try to win this year! And this year the Falcons have no experienced Safeties...your move TD!

KendallA

@RogerHenslee @Intruder

Why cant he choose RogerHenslee. That bum of a QB in NY forced his way outta San Diego when they drafted him! Clowney should be able to do it too, ijs!

TheRealJay
TheRealJay

@SeenThatB4 Yeah and that manipulation will bite him in the butt soon enough. Can't keep kicking the can forever. And they didn't offer him more because they knew they had the ability to match any offer.  I don't know much about this player, but looking over at Nola your fellow fans love him.  This is a great move by TD. He might have a perfect back up safety or starter(at best) at worst he'll force the Saints into even more cap mess.

@RogerHenslee @TheRealJay  "I have often read at Nola too, just dont agitate the home fans there." Same here. I never even bother to read anything a Saints fan puts on here. I suppose they think anyone cares.

If he does come here, I wonder if ATL will still look for a safety in the draft.

 Should this move not be matched by NO, and with the other FA signings, and three comp picks, I would think the chances of the Falcons trading up for Clowney are improving. If they do, I hope he lives up to the hype!

LeftisnotRight

@SeenThatB4 Sorry I didn't get to read your comment since it was a response to mine......Saints do have their "ways"......

RogerHenslee
RogerHenslee

@TheRealJay I see the same thing...I have often read at Nola too, just dont agitate the home fans there. The fans there seem to like him.

At least, if he comes to ATL, he can be a stopgap player until someone else comes along or develops.
