Falcons’ draft board: Arizona State OLB/DE Carl Bradford

Comments 1

Each morning, from now until the draft starts on May 8, we’ll do a short profile of a player who’s on the Falcons’ Draft Board. We’ll focus on team-needs, possible selections, players the Falcons have worked out and/or interviewed, etc. The Falcons own 10 picks in this draft. Today we’ll look at Arizona State linebacker/defensive end Carl Bradford.

Player: Carl Bradford

Position: Outside linebacker/defensive end

School: Arizona State

Height and weight: 6-1, 250

Combine numbers: 4.76 seconds in the 40-yard dash; 23 reps on the 225-pound bench press; 37 1/2-inch vertical; 10-2 broad jump, 4.3 seconds in the shuttle run and 7.25 in the three-cone drill.

Projected Round: He’s the seventh-rated defensive end/outside linebacker in the draft and projected to be selected in the second or third round by NFLDraftScout.com.

Career Highlights:Bradford had 18 tackles for loss, including 8.5 sacks, one interception and three forced fumbles last season for Arizona State. He was named to the All-Pac-12 second team. He has his degree.

Quotes: “I had a couple (meetings with) teams with inside and outside (linebacker openings), so I can play either, or. I have experience on the outside, and I can put my hand in the dirt or stand up. I think that helps a lot. Some teams kind of (see me) as a (strongside) backer, and some see me as middle (linebacker).”

Falcons level on interest: The Falcons are young at the linebacker position and Bradford has some pass-rushing ability. The Falcons are clearly looking for versatile players like Bradford, who can fit into many different roles.
