I would be surprised if the Falcons trade away draft picks to move up and select a guy without a private workout.  I guess he really didn't want the Falcons to pick him.  I think the guy is just lazy.  Don't need to waste picks on him.

We barely lost our games last year by 3 or 7 points and that was without Julio.  Barely lost to Saints both times, Green Bay, San Fran and Carolina all play-off teams. You people are nuts thinking we have so many holes to fill.  Yall act like we got blown out in every game. Yall act like  this is the last Draft or free agency that the Falcons will ever have. Hoarding Draft Picks might have been the way to go back in the 70's where free agency didnt exist but not in today's NFL  We picked up a starting Guard, DT and DE in free agency and dropped a bunch of dead wood that were no longer fitting our scheme and were eating up salary cap.  This team roster as it is right now  with starters and depth is better than the 2012 team that was in the NFC championship team.  The only weakness compared to that team would TE with GONZ.  The Falcons are not going to be drafting this high every year and when you have a chance to grab Clowney you do it.  The Falcons have 10 draft pics and let you in on a little secret not all are going to make the team.  This year make sure you get you DE in the first and Safety in the third.  Next year get your OT in the first and future RB in the third.

It's simple. he either knows he will be taken #1 by the Texans or he is just ensuring there will be no injuries between now and the draft.   There is entirely too much time between the Super Bowl and the Draft and after having teams pick and poke over you and having the media rip you apart I think players are getting tired of it. The draft should be held the middle of March before free agency begins.

I know we need a S in the 3rd or 4th round but otherwise we should use 5 of our first 6 picks on two OLB/DE that can rush the passer and 3 OL including a C and 2 T.  Having somebody other than Fantasy Football Dimitroff (FFD) do the drafting would be a great help.  This guy ruined a championship quality team in a couple of years.

The entire NFL knows Atlanta is a soft team and as such we will get tested early and often.  When a team has that repetition they will have to swing way to the other side to keep from being bullied.  We better have the guys to play tough and 4 new OL starters and a whole new pass rush would be a great start.

Atlanta has way too many holes to give up any picks.  In addition to the 6 above, we still could use a WR, a TE, a RB and another CB.  That's 10 picks and we will have to finish repairing FFD's mess next draft.

Hope Falcons don't trade up for him...Agree with Rick-James on any combination of Matthews, Robinson or Attoucho... Don't give up the Candy Store for one Sweet Red lollpop.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't think he's a team kinda guy. I'm pretty sure DT will sell the cow, for "magic" beans. Common sense doesn't seem to be a trait of most gamblers....

Maybe Houston has told him that they'll take him with the 1st pick..I'd be just as happy with any combination of Jake Matthews,Greg Robingson,Dee Ford and Jerimiah Attoucho over the first two rounds

JaySly

Jadeveon tired of all this nonsense--they better draft him #1 or he not gonna be happy---he wants the #1 draft pick money

No it does not. It simply means he knows he will be picked somewhere in the Top 5. If he doesn't, Blank will not allow himself to look foolish drafting a player who didn't work out. The Falcons should pass. In fact, this also might hint at a possible trade down by the Falcons. Outside of those two scenarios, why hurt your stock by refusing to workout?

Pastoman.....linemen with the 1st 4 picks.  Don't get away from the plan!  Of course thats my plan.  But a good plan nonetheless.

Pastamon

D-Led, you said the Falcons need to focus on both lines, but 2 of the 3 guys you mention as potential second rounders are not linemen. Getting a safety is important and that's the only position I'd look to fill other than linemen. The rest (LBs, TEs, etc.) are luxories we can't afford. Fill up the lines first.

Why would the falcon's even want him ?  He is a distraction already.

D-Led,

I don't see how Clowney not working out for ATL hurts anything?

Seems to me his decision to not work out anymore would lead to one to believe Clowney already knows where he is going (my guess is the first pick) and has decided to not risk working out anymore.

Don't blame him at all.

Clowney is a punk...even Spurrier wasn't happy with his efforts...

Pro Days in general are already too much.  Their only legit purpose is for players recovering from injury during their final season not being ready for the NFL Combine.

What's the point in a private workout for any player?

Besides, he didn't just turn down the Falcons, he's not doing any private workouts going forward but will still do interviews.

Wasn't Bryan Cox and our LB coach leading the workout at Clowney's pro day a few weeks back? They've probably already seen enough I do believe.  This is merely a smokescreen.  Watch the Falcons move up and snag him!!

bloodsweatntearz

Not at all!  The gesture reinforces the truth . . . Clowney doesn't want to be a Falcon and isn't interested in working out for a team that maybe . . . just maybe . . . might could draft him with a first round pick.

Screw Clowney, he's just doing us a damned favor it this keeps us from choosing his sorry azz.

IF you dont know what he brings to the table now, no amount of a workout private or public is going to tell you anything more.

Falcons shouldn't even be thinking about JC. How many azz-kickin's does it take for them to realize that they need help on the interior lines--FIRST and FOREMOST.

I am starting to believe this guys attitude sucks.

After Brandon Thomas blew out his knee, it will be interesting to see who acts indignant against those who trust their scouting of Clowney.

Another internet tough guy behide the keyboard I see. Why should he continue to workout and get hurt when he's going to be a top 5 pick anyway?

@EdSeattl5 @theoriginaltruth Sure he's a punk.  Let's see, a Heisman-winning QB in college, led Duke to a FOOTBALL Title as coach, led UF to 8 (or 9?) SEC Titles, 1 National Title, and led SC to three straight 11-win seasons.

How's your career stack up to that, Ed?

@JSSN @DawgNole

That would appear to be correct, based on the number of championships (0) they've accumulated in their first 47 years.
