Falcons’ draft board: Central Florida RB Storm Johnson

By D. Orlando Ledbetter

Each morning, from now until the draft starts on May 8, we’ll do a short profile of a player who’s on the Falcons’ Draft Board. We’ll focus on team-needs, possible selections, players the Falcons have worked out and/or interviewed, etc. The Falcons own 10 picks in this draft. Today we’ll look at Central Florida running back Storm Johnson, of Loganville, who recently meet with the Falcons..

Player: Storm Johnson

Position: Running back

School: Central Florida

Height and weight: 6-0, 209 pounds

Combine & Pro Day Numbers:  4.6 seconds in the 40-yard dash (4.54 on Pro Day); 16 reps on the 225-pound bench press (19 at Pro Day); 35.5-inch vertical jump and 9-10 broad jump (10-1 on Pro Day).

Projected Round: He’s the 13th rated running back in the draft and is projected to be selected in the fifth by

Career Highlights: Last season he played in 13 games, rushed for 1,139 yards and 14 touchdowns on 213 carries. He had 30 catches for 260 yards and three touchdowns. Johnson helped led Central Florida to a 52-42 victory over Baylor in the Fiesta Bowl. He rushed for 124 yards and three touchdowns in the biggest win school history. He started his career at Miami after originally committing to LSU. He was an All-State selection after rushing for more than 1,900 yards and 31 touchdowns in 2009.

Quotes: ”This was a tough journey for me, and I’m just super proud to have the support of coach (George) O’Leary and the coaching staff. It was a hard decision, but I had to make the best decision for me.”

Falcons level on interest: Moderate. Steven Jackson is slated to be the primary ball carrier next season, but could pass the torch to Johnson after a season. Johnson runs well between the tackles and can catch the ball out of the backfield. The Falcons are thin at running back after the retirement of Jason Snelling and the release of fullback Bradie Ewing

Storm Johnson is a HEAD CASE>>  Not needed in the ATL. Let him be someone else's "problem Child"..

Dude's uncle Owns him..  Kid has game, but uncle had him moved around to get totes: from Wildcats of Duluth to the Wolves of Buford, to the Red Devils of Loganville, then the recruiting process was a joke... First  Miami then kicked off the team, then Central Fla...

No need for him in Flowery Branch...  Raiders???  Sure....

I wish they could all those guys in that picture!

The Falcons Draft, reminds me of the story of the Little Dutch Boy! So many leaks, just not enough fingers and toes to plug all the holes. I believe the 2 FA DLinemen we picked up, will help. Not sure if the One FA Olineman, will get the job done. I lean to the best OL @ 6, and the best pass rusher, with our# 2! Or reverse that. Either way, we still need RB/S/LB/DE & more Offensive Linemen. I don't see us being competitive (playoff worthy, till next year....

the falcons have no chance they will get to be 5-11 or 6-10 , and a first round pick again , to 5  a few more of these then they will be good .

it wont matter this team has no chance for playoffs this year falcons sux, the gm sux , and when the gm is stupid pure stupid you have no chance to be good sorry friggin team

Did you watch UCF-South Carolina at all? Johnson is the real deal, just like Alfred Morris was.

This guy sounds like a 5th or 6th rounder. We need a Defensive Game Changer in the first round. We need a Safety and a Backup QB in the next two. RB next 2015 draft...

Jadeveon Clowney will put a Storm on Drew Brees and the sAints.

A lot of defenders will be all over Brees this season since they got rid of half their starting OLineman to pay for him.

Oh Precious, still stuck in the 70s with Donald Sterling? Oh, make that the 1870s!

Go make up some more excuses for your team's failures! Preach that you out of touch nut!

No, those are the "little friends in your imagination" hard at work keeping your paranoia active to the point that you are all queasy, go see the doctor!

John Boehner called, he needs a stand-in for his next crying gig...Precious!

Like RuPaul Charles is suppose to be an insult? Ha ha, he's more man than you'd ever be! You're one on those creeps who use to ride around Midtown back in the 80s and 90s who try to pick on the drag queens and ended up with butt whipped! Too freakin' funny!

Dude, your team was 4-12, live with it! You sound like a locker room tough guy until his crew wasn't around to keep him from getting that butt whipping he dialed up!
