Combine Numbers: He ran the 40-yard dash in 4.62 seconds, had a vertical of 34 inches, broad jump of 9 feet, 8 inches, 4.33 short shuttle and 7.07 three-cone drill.

Projected Round: He’s the 14th rated quarterback in the draft and is projected to be selected in the seventh round or be a free agent by

Career Highlights: He was the called the “best quarterback” in school history by South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier. He guided the Gamecocks to a school-record 26 victories and completed 158 of 259 passes for 2,135 yards with 21 touchdowns and one interception in 2013. “Conner Shaw is that gritty, competitive, over-achiever-type quarterback, who probably looks more like a career backup than a starter,” ESPN draft analyst Mel Kiper Jr. said. “He’s a fifth to seventh rounder.”

Quotes: “I think my record speaks for itself. In my opinion, that’s the best conference in college football, and I believe I am an elite competitor. I think I am going to prove that in the NFL. …I think you always gain confidence when you win, and we did a whole lot of winning at South Carolina. Playing for Coach Spurrier was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that I took advantage of, and I learned a lot from him.”

Falcons level on interest: Moderate to Low. The Falcons have two seventh round compensatory picks and if Shaw is still on the board, he could get his named called. He’ll be nearby in Flowery Branch watching the draft.

Falcons better jump on Connor early! He is a Russel Wilson type QB and just as talented! Could be a breath of fresh air for Atlanta!!

We need to grab our pass rusher (Mack/Clowney-doesn't off them!). Then, we get our tackle later in the draft. If you think Tyson Jackson, Osi Umenyora, Paul Worrilow, Sean Weatherspoon, or Kroy Biermman is a pass rush...#getthemackattack

This draft is not deep in edge rushers-Mike Mayock.

I think he is worth a 6th or 7th round pick to someone in the NFL. The guy can play.

For all of the good things and intangible attributes that Connor Shaw has a winner; one simple truth exists. Connor Shaw could not stay healthy in the college game.

I can hear the silly comebacks: "He didn't miss many games." An aside, he was a walking MASH unit, he has injury prone moniker, and the NFL knows it. Anyone taking shots at QBs who've done what they have in the NFL with the comparison of Shaw is just hilarious. Try Christian Ponder or Jake Locker next time, there are some pieces of work!

Shaw has CFA written all over him, if the Falcons have any interest they won't need to burn a pick.

If U R gonna tlak QB U need 2 tlak Johnny Fottball. Flacons would be the dummest of dumm 2 pass on Mansell and draft this joke

None of Spurrier's quarterbacks  ever make it big time in the NFL!

HE's a gamer in the mold of an Eric Zeier...a nice compliment.

I'd take him over that imbecile taking snaps for the Carolina Panthers....

Connor Shaw, NO. We do need a backup but we need someone like McCarron who can step in and fill a gap if Ryan goes down.

Good luck Connor.   Hey, if I had the pull for an NFL team, I'd seriously consider taking him in rounds 3 or 4, perhaps even 2.

@zekel - You may be right. I hate to think of drafting a QB when we have 2 almost untested in MS's WPP but we have seen enough of Dom Davis to know this. He played good in his first year until someone said don't play that way. Do it like MR. Drop back, remain immobile and throw. Pretty much ruined now so we might as well get rid of him. I believe Sean Renfree will be pretty good. I watched him play 3 years at Duke. Played really good with not much help. He made Connor Vernon (a short white guy) the leader in passes caught in the ACC.

@JSSN Isn't "Injury Prone" a prerequisite for playing for the Falcons?

Taller than 5'11" Johnny Manziel and Russell Wilson.

@HarveyPooka That is the kind of move a team from Cleveland or Oakland would make. I don't think he will make it in the NFL.

Nope, but they'll be ambulatory by the time they leave! Go and ask Michael Turner.

I like Shaw, but he does not have the cannon those two have.
