FLOWERY BRANCH – Here are six quick takes from the first day of Falcons rookie minicamp:

  1. Falcons first-round pick Jake Matthews won two battles with second-round pick Ra’Shede Hageman in one-on-one pass blocking drills. Both players were impressive.
  2. Fourth-round pick Prince Shembo lined up at RDE in the nickel package. He looked good coming off the edge as a rusher.
  3. Former defensive tackle Adam Replogle has been moved over to the offensive line. He played some left guard.
  4. The defense drilled in the 4-3, 3-4 and 4-2-5.
  5. Veteran cornerback Jordan Mabin, safety Sean Baker and Replogle, who were all on the practice squad last season, participated in the drills.
  6. Running back Braden Wilson (Kansas State, tryout), cornerback Devonta Glover-Wright (Campbell High, Utah State, undrafted rookie), and defensive lineman Byron Jerideau (South Carolina, tryout)  were injured and watched most of the drills.

Please check back later. We’ll post a video, coach Mike Smith’s comments on the practice and a story on third-round pick Dezmen Southward.

I think I'll reserve judgements until we actually play another team and not a preseason game either! Even though by the 4th preseason game last year, we knew we were in trouble. Mike Smith just kept saying that we were going to be OK. Just a Company Man....

Did any fights break out? I want to see some mean/toughness this year...

I bet Matt Ryan is giddy with the addition of Matthews and Asamoah. He'll finally have a real line to protect him.

I'll judge Shembo from how he's comports himself from the time the incident happen until now moving forward let's be fair and not mean--spirited, especially {AtlantaRince2} you don't have all the facts. Remember the Falcons have there own vetting system and a lot more resources than you do...

Where are all the Sad Sacks that were on here making sheep noises about Matthews a few days ago? Oh Yeah,Shembo and the other OLB s will bring some edge noise,believe it.

Shembo has always been an aggressive rusher - of women.

Jake Matthews is ready already. Pro Bowler in rookie year? Possible with this guy.

When you are competing against your "own" talent, it is silly to act like somebody is "bringing some noise!" How well did that work for Mike Johnson? Matthews has talent, it is up to the Falcons line and offensive coaching personnel to not to mess him up.

@seminoleking  Matthews will be just fine. As it states above,he damn well handled Hardeman,who is a Monster. If Hardeman wasnt INTIMIDATED,he sure as hell RESPECTS Matthews,as you surely would If you were lined up across from him and not in front of a keyboard. What else?

@JSSN @zuzu331  No,whats silly is trolling the blog of a team you hate,disrespecting people you dont know. Johnson broke his leg and dislocated his ankle,whats Dominique Davis's excuse? He better eat his Wheaties,because at 198 this new crop of OLB s will bust his little non NFL caliber self up...

Because I've been using those terms (as have 98.9% of people on the Web) since 1996! You act like you're being original. They are most likely mocking your illiterate behind. On the other hand, I'm just paraphrasing your idiocy; "trolling," go drink some Tiger's Blood! That "delete" button works, why don't you go fix that mess you posted 18 hours ago! Blame malt liquor or something like that!

@JSSN  Like I keep telling you,saying the things I say when youre busting on me is really kinda bizarre,"Dude". I say "Ha,Ha." You say "SMDH","Really what is wrong with you?" and other wise old black guy at the barber shop crap like that,"Dude".

What the heck is this, is it an Episode of 'South Park'?  Oh my bad, that is "Cartman!" Please notice I didn't address the author of that piece of fine mess of a post! Godzilla (montster) Ra'Shede Hageman (actual human being who plays football). Not a "monster," but I'm glad you actually spelled that word correct! Ha ha, "trolling!"

@zuzu331

Johnson is being depended upon if Matthews, Holmes, Baker or that fact one of the guards goes down. According to so many of you so called Falcon fans, their who stated their season folded up the day that Johnson went down on Day 1 of the Bengals scrimmages!

You have no idea of the rules of debate (or argument)!  As close as you ever came to a Forensics competition is cleaning up after one! I've answered that mess you keep not wanting to accept the answer to. It is your personal problem that you don't accept things. You're not "curious." You just like typing.

@JSSN @zuzu331  I bring up Davis for the same reason you bring up Johnson. Why bring Johnson up? You trash Johnson for what reason? I know the reason but you'll simply deny it,so why even go there. You know what you are. You wont answer the simple question Ive been asking:Why come on here at all? You obviously hate this team and you obviously feel somehow superior to the people who post on here(God knows why THAT is). You will concede no point and follow no rule of debate,simply endlessly "coming back" to everything like a child. What is your objective,If not to simply Troll,frustrate and anger people? Im not frustrated and havent been angry at you for a long time,just baffled why someone would post inane gibberish like Joe Fish Camaro or endlessly badger and insult complete strangers like you do. What is the point of what you do on here,Im curious.

@zuzu331

For the record, Johnson was tossed around like a rag doll and "had his leg broken." He did not deserve such a fate, but it happened.

You bring up Dominique Davis for what reason? Are your lines so poor that they won't be able to protect him once again when competing against other teams 2nd and 3rd teams in scrimmages (like the last two preseasons). Will they (those scary OLBs) be out there trying to take out their own green vests (that's non contact players in practice)? You must be confusing Davis with his fellow for their life mate Sean Renfree?

No, the only "trolling" being done is by you and that incessant midseason rah-rah like chatter. You're saying your own team can't protect a backup! Too funny, don't let your mirror fall too far!
