Can you spell "All Pro".   Get used to attaching that term with mention of Mr. Matthews.

Sam Baker (when healthy which is rare) is an above average left tackle. He's not Joe Thomas, Ryan Clady, Joe Staley, or Jake Long by any means BUT both years Ryan made the pro bowl (2010, 2012) Sam Baker didn't miss a game and protected Ryan's blindside the entire year. Sam Baker was our left tackle when we made it to the NFC title game and actually SHUT OUT Aldon Smith (who had 19.5 sacks that season) in that game . If he can just stay healthy he will be fine at left tackle and Matthews will be our RT. The right side of our line with Asamoah at RG and Matthews at RT will be very stout. I think our O-line will be a lot better and stronger this season. Hawley is at C and when he stepped in our O-line actually played better as a unit last year. Konz is just weak and got pushed around. O-line will be a strength this year.

Dled, what's your impression of Shembo....he's been flying under the radar.

If Jake is the left tackle of the future, why not start him there and move Baker to the right? Why have Jake learn RT in the NFL only to re-learn the LT at NFL level? Plus the odds are that Baker gets injured anyway..

Baker gets hurt in preseason. Matthews moves to left Tackle, struggles but gets better as he goes. Baker cut...

@DawgGoneIt Well said... If the O-line is healthy, it will be a strength because then it will be made up of some good players.  And if the O-line is a strength, then the Offense will be deadly...  Jackson, Quizz, and Freeman will have holes to run through, and our Pro Bowl caliber Quarter back will be able to get the ball to our Pro Bowl caliber Wide Outs.

@MikeisBack  Mr Ledbetter doesn't do impressions. He doesn't even do stand up.

@RogerHenslee  Yea.  I thought they were drafting the left tackle of the future.  After last season, the future starts NOW!

The two seasons that Baker has been healthy, the Falcons went 13-3.

@FalconJames @DOrlandoLedbetter  It's the contract. Baker has to have a certain # of snaps at left tackle. Most of his fat contract is incentive laden with decent annual bonuses fused in and low base salary. Other than that, you normally do not draft a starting right tackle at #6. In 2015, the switch will be more palatable. If Baker doesn't like it, then he can be cut for a  much cheaper "cap hit." Which brings me to this point? Let Matthews get his feet wet at RT. Baker is a veteran who has played LT for most of his football career and he's almost 30. Much harder for him to switch gears now. Plus he's technically better than Holmes when healthy and not facing Jason Babin......

@DOrlandoLedbetter DOL- I know you are reporting what Smith and TD have said repeatedly about Baker being the LT, Period.  But can you admit deep down, that you have doubts about that. Right?

You're an idiot! You get what you deserve. He's never been dependable. You can try that tired name calling and putting my fiancee in stuff all you want. Baker is overpaid. Your team gave him a contract commiserate with a healthy and productive lineman. He promptly reverted to who has been a majority of his time in Atlanta, IR Sam Baker! 4-12, live with it!

@Rory_Bellows @DOrlandoLedbetter  Excellent point! Most folks on this blog are very ignorant and quick to judge/call-out so called overly high paid professional players in their opinion, i.e., Sam Baker, MR2 etc., It's amazin when he's healthy no one complains with exception to JSSn aka "Who Knows" Jack Schitt.................Who's about to be married to Aw Schitt who's the daughter of No Schitt Sherlock
