5 things to know about the Falcons on Thursday

img_9716FLOWERY BRANCH – Here are five things to know about the Falcons, who practice at 10 a.m. on Thursday.

1. Freeney arrives. Falcons coach Dan Quinn said Dwight Freeney, who’s set to sign his contract, went to Indianapolis and is set to arrive in Flowery Branch today.

2. Ryan to talk. Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan, who was sharp in the red zone drills on Wednesday, is set to speak to the media after practice. Ryan has had a rash of interceptions early in camp, but Quinn attributed that to experimentation with route combinations.

3. Friday Night Lights.  The Falcons will travel to Grayson High School in Loganville for “Friday Night Lights.” Gates open at 6:00 p.m. and the team takes the field at 7:30 p.m. The practice will be hosted by Wes Durham and Dave Archer and will feature a performance by the Atlanta Falcons Cheerleaders, interactive games, as well as player autographs. The night will conclude with a fireworks show.

4. Julio Jones speaks. Falcons All-Pro wide receiver Julio Jones spoke about his status in the league. He’s not the bragging type, but he noted that he doesn’t watch or compare himself to other top receivers including Pittsburgh’s sensational Antonio Brown.

5. Beasley hyped about Freeney signing. The Falcons plan to use Dwight Freeney as a nickel rusher. Second-year linebacker/defensive end Vic Beasley can’t wait to pick his brain.
