NEW ORLEANS — Falcons linebacker Deion Jones, a native of New Orleans, will pay tribute to the 10th anniversary of the devastating effects from Hurricane Katrina, by wearing some special commemorative cleats on Monday Night Football.
The symbols on his cleats denote how the search and rescue teams marked area houses following the disaster. His grandmother was one of the many who made into the Superdome for refuge.
Earlier in the week, Jones talked about the re-opening of the Superdome.
“I just remember everybody sitting round the TV,” Jones said. “Everyone was happy that the dome was re-opened. The Saints mean a lot to the city an there was a point in time that they didn’t think the Superdome would be back open because of everything that happened. Everyone was just happy to be able to have the Saints back in their lives.”
