FLOWERY BRANCH — After losing 26-24 to the Seattle Seahawks, the Falcons (4-2) are set to face the rested San Diego Chargers (2-4) at 4:05 Sunday at the Georgia Dome.
Here are five things to know about the Falcons on Thursday:
1. Alford talk. Falcons defensive coordinator Richard Smith had a “man-to-man” talk with cornerback Robert Alford about his penalties.
2. Stadium update. Things are coming along at the new stadium, which has has more than $200 million in additions.
3. Matthews’ return. Defensive lineman Cliff Matthews is elated to return to the Falcons.

5. Injury report: Falcons wide receiver Taylor Gabriel (head), cornerback C.J. Goodwin (hamstring) did not practice Wednesday because of injuries that forced them to leave the loss at the Seahawks on Sunday.
