FLOWERY BRANCH – Through the three rounds of the NFL draft, the Falcons have failed to fill a major need: Pass rusher.
Their attempts to trade up in the first round for South Carolina defensive end Jadeveon Clowney and for Auburn’s Dee Ford were unsuccessful.
In the second round, they selected Minnesota nose guard Ra’Shede Hageman and said they will convert him to a five-technique (run stopping) defensive end.
In the third round, they selected Wisconsin safety Dezmen Southward, who was projected as a strong safety and to be taken in the fourth round by NFLDraftScout.com. The Falcons said that he will play free safety.

AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn edge rusher Dee Ford, after his stellar showing at the school’s Pro Day on Tuesday, wanted to make one thing clear.

“It’s a great story and it sounds good, but what I want everyone to know is that me and Clowney are not feuding,” Ford told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “We compete. If he sets a number, I’m going to try [More]
