All signs are pointing to the Falcons back standing pat before the draft starts at 8 p.m. tonight, but we’re projected a deal once things get underway.
When Houston goes on the clock, they’ll wait and see if they can get the Falcons’ second, third and next season’s first round pick. They should be a short conversation.
Then the Falcons will sit tight with the sixth pick until they get a call from Buffalo’s to move up from No. 9.
The Falcons could take the pick from Buffalo, fall back to nine and take Notre Dame tackle Zach Martin.

We purposefully didn’t do 10,000 mocks during the extended pre-draft process this year.
That time was better spent on researching players, keeping track of the private workouts and doing as many interviews and conference calls as possible.
We are going to call this one Mock 4.0 and reserve the right to put up the Final Mock by 12 noon Thursday before heading out to Flowery Branch for the festivities.
Here’s how the first round of the NFL draft will proceed on May 8:

With a week away, it appears the Falcons have zeroed in on the offensive tackles.
The best of the bunch is Auburn’s Greg Robinson and there an “league sourced” report that they are considering trading up to the top spot for Robinson and not South Carolina defensive end Jadeveon Clowney.
That move makes sense to several draft analysts.
Robinson is the most dominating blocker in the draft over the last decade, according to ESPN draft analyst Todd McShay.
Michigan’s Taylor Lewan and Texas A&M’s Jake Matthews are the other top rated tackles.
Here’s what McShay and Mel Kiper Jr. are saying about the tackles:

FLOWERY BRANCH — The Falcons are in the final stages of setting their draft board for the NFL draft, which is set for May 8-10.
They start offseason conditioning today. We’ll have some media access on Tuesday.
Also, several of the top prospects including UCLA linebacker Anthony Barr, South Carolina defensive end Jadeveon Clowney and Buffalo linebacker Khalil Mack are scheduled to visit Flowery Branch next week.
The Falcons have also been connected to all of the top tackles in the draft in Auburn’s Greg Robinson, Texas A&M Jake Matthews and Michigan’s Taylor Lewan.
It’s clear that they are going either edge rusher or offensive [More]

The Atlanta Falcons are not playing around.
Next week is a big as the Falcons finalize their board for the NFL draft, which will be held May 8-10. This will be the “grit and toughness” draft. Don’t look for them to deviate on character. They will stay close to normal methods of drafting players with degrees, former team captains and individuals with high football IQ’s.

The Godfather has spoken.
The Falcons worked out Michigan offensive tackle Taylor Lewan, according to Gil “The Godfather” Brandt of NFL.com.
That completes the trifecta.
The Falcons have been previously linked to the other top tackles in the draft. They interviewed Auburn’s Greg Robinson and Texas A&M’s Jake Matthews at the combine.
Lewan is generally considered the third-rated tackle in the group, but wouldn’t be much of a reach at No. 6 if Robinson and Matthews are off the board.
ESPN draft analyst Mel Kiper has Lewan going to the Bills, who have [More]

I wanted to give y’all some early morning snack food before rolling the Batmobile up to Clemson for their Pro Day.
We’ll focus on tackle Brandon Thomas. If the Falcons go edge rusher/linebacker in the first round, Thomas, who could win the right tackle spot, would be a viable second round pick. The Falcons coached him the Senior Bowl.
We caught up with the NFL.com’s Bucky Brooks to pick his brain post-combine.
In his latest mock draft, he has the Falcons picking Michigan offensive tackle Taylor Lewan, the meanest and nastiness of the three top tackles in the draft. I think [More]
