NEW YORK — Ray Guy, of Thomson, Ga., becomes the first full-time punter to earn election to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. An impact player throughout his entire 14-season career with the Oakland/Los Angeles Raiders, he was named All-Pro six straight years.
“When I left Southern (Mississippi) and went to the Raiders, nothing changed,” Guy said. “It stayed the same. I was an athlete. I’m still a country boy and I blended right in with he characteristics of the Raiders.
“It’s been a great life for me. It’s been a great road to travel and I’ve learned a lot of things.”
