UPDATED: Falcons making cuts — Angerer, Hagens and Smallwood released

FLOWERY BRANCH – Linebacker Pat Angerer’s once-promising NFL career could be over after he was released by the Falcons on Friday.

He was in the first round of cuts made by the team, which also released linebacker Yawin Smallwood and fullback Maurice Hagens.

The Falcons were at 75 players after completed the exhibition season with a 2-2 record and have to reach the league-mandated 53-man roster by 4 p.m. on Saturday.

FLOWERY BRANCH — The countdown rolls on!

The veterans report today. The rookies have been on site since Tuesday and the first practice is set for Friday.

The media fitness run is Saturday at noon. I’ve checked with president and CEO Rich McKay to see if the ambulances are ready. Also, we’ll need to make sure that at least two CPR-trained Falcons cheerleaders are on-site.

Falcons sign 20 undrafted rookies, 5 from SEC

FLOWERY BRANCH – The Falcons released their list of 20 undrafted free agents that have signed with the team on Monday.

We had 17 of the 20 names for you on Sunday. The three additions are Arkansas State wide receiver Julian Jones, Kansas State wide receiver Tramaine Thompson and Wisconsin tight end Brian Wozniak.

Here’s the list of players:
