Seattle Seahawks Practice Pool Report

By Ralph Vacchiano

Pro Football Writers of America

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. – On the final day before Super Bowl XLVIII, the NFC champion Seattle Seahawks got their first look inside MetLife Stadium where they’ll face the Denver Broncos on Sunday night and then held their final walk-through across the Meadowlands parking lot at the Giants’ practice facility. They looked loose and energetic as they went through their normal Saturday morning routine.

And when it was over, Seahawks coach Pete Carroll had no doubt his team is ready to start the game.

“We’re ready to go,” Carroll said. “That’s kind [More]

EXCLUSIVE Q&A: Dimitroff & Pioli ready to make moves

NEW YORK – Falcons general manager Thomas Dimitroff and new assistant general manager Scott Pioli made the rounds at radio row on Thursday at the Super Bowl.

Afterwards, Dimitroff granted an exclusive interview to me and columnist Jeff Schultz of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Schultz, a long-time former beat writer, went into “Beast Mode” and I knew to just get downfield and get some blocks for him. When he needed a break, I jumped in with a question or two, until he got his wind back.

Here’s the full transcript on the wide-ranging interview:

Q: When will you all start making moves?

A: I believe that on February [More]

RUNNING BACK MARSHAWN LYNCH ON THURSDAY

(on this being the last day of team media sessions) “It’s going to be good to get back to football. Very good.”

(on when he knew Russell Wilson would be good) “I don’t know. You just hope for the best for him. It was probably during the preseason when he started showing flashes of it, and then his work ethic just took over. That was probably something [More]

QUOTES FROM SEATTLE SEAHAWKS MEDIA SESSION ON THURSDAY

DEFENSIVE END RED BRYANT

(on why he is able to be effective in Seattle’s 4-3 under defensive formation) “I just feel like what I bring to the team is I’m able to stop a lot of the run, the runs that teams like to run, and it allows our rushers on the open side to get after the passer.”

(on the 4-3 under formation) “I feel like against Peyton (Manning) we might run a lot of nickel given the fact that they come out in a lot of living personnel, and they like to spread [More]

QUARTERBACK RUSSELL WILSON

(on being a captain in the Super Bowl) “Obviously, the Super Bowl logo means the world to us. It’s something that we take a lot of pride in. We wanted to get here. That was our goal, to go 1-0 every week and try to get here. Have a championship offseason, have a championship season. To have the captain patch in my second year, it’s an honor. My teammates are unbelievable. I just try to be part of the team and try to do everything I can to help our football team [More]
