Falcons make Hard Knocks debut tonight at 10 p.m.

FLOWERY BRANCH – The Falcons, who are having their most spirited and colorful camp in years, are set to debut on HBO’s Hard Knocks at 10 p.m. tonight.

Rob Gehring, who has worked the last 20 years for NFL and is the supervising producer and director of HBO’s Hard Knocks reality show, and his crew have been hard at work.

Falcons sign five draft picks

FLOWERY BRANCH — Five Falcons’ draft picks, linebacker Prince Shembo, cornerback Ricardo Allen, linebacker Marquis Spruill, linebacker Yawin Smallwood, and linebacker Tyler Starr, all signed contracts with the Falcons on Sunday.

The terms of the agreements were not disclosed.

First-round tackle Jake Matthews, second-round defensive end Ra’Shede Hageman, third-round safety Dezmen Southward and fourth-round running back Devonta Freeman remain unsigned.

The Falcons are following the league trend of trying to wrap up their rookie signings quickly.

2014 NFL Draft: ESPN’s McShay on Falcons’ moves

FLOWERY BRANCH – ESPN draft analyst Todd McShay shared his thoughts on the Falcons’ draft class today.

He liked the draft overall, especially the Matthews pick. He believes that the Falcons got first-round value when they picked defensive end Ra’Shede Hageman in the second-round. The Dezmen Southward pick in the third-round was a head-scratcher for him and he liked the pick of running back Devonta Freeman in the fourth round.
